TapCook Alternatives in Australia (2026)

TapCook plans a week of dinners priced at your store, but only in the US and Canada. Three apps that work with Australian supermarkets, compared plainly by the RecipeRun team.

By RecipeRun Editorial TeamPublished

Quick answer: TapCook plans a week of dinners and prices the grocery list at a store you choose, but its own FAQ says it works in the US and Canada and, everywhere else, "not yet". So it can't price your week at Woolworths, Coles or ALDI. If that is what you were after, these three apps say they work with Australian supermarkets:

  • RecipeRun: your own recipes, a weekly plan and one list, priced at your local Woolworths, Coles and ALDI.
  • WiseList: Coles, Woolworths and ALDI prices, with meal plans built around this week's specials or a budget.
  • Pinch: a recipe or meal plan priced at Coles, Woolworths, ALDI and Harris Farm, with a year of price history.

We make RecipeRun, so this is a comparison by one of the entrants, not an independent review. We checked TapCook's website and its Australian App Store listing on 3 November 2026. Prices and coverage change, so confirm before you pay.

What TapCook does well

TapCook's site describes a tidy idea. Tell it your ZIP or postal code, how many you are feeding, which nights you cook and what you want to spend, and it plans the week and writes one grocery list, priced at the store you shop at and kept under your budget. It prices whole packs rather than teaspoons, takes the pantry staples already at home off the bill, and shares one plan with your household under one subscription, with no name or email needed.

It is also upfront about its prices: "An estimate, not a quote: built from regular, store-brand prices where you shop."

Who it suits: households in the US or Canada who want the dinners chosen for them and a grocery total they can plan around before they leave home.

Can you use TapCook in Australia?

Not for what it is built to do. TapCook's FAQ says it works in the US and Canada, and everywhere else "not yet", and its App Store description says it works with grocery stores in the US and Canada. The app is still listed on the Australian App Store, where its in-app purchases show TapCook Monthly at $14.99 and TapCook Yearly at $49.99, and the listing says building and viewing weekly plans requires a subscription. On its own site the subscription is US$9.99 a month or US$29.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan. If you are in Australia, check that it supports your postcode and stores before you start a trial.

RecipeRun: your recipes, priced at your local Woolworths, Coles and ALDI

RecipeRun comes at the week from the other end: it starts from the recipes your household already cooks. Save them from websites, TikTok and YouTube links, photos and handwritten cards, give each one a day, and the week's ingredients become one grocery list. Choose your local Woolworths, Coles and ALDI by postcode and the list shows an estimated total at each store, the product behind every price and a count of anything it couldn't match.

Where it differs from TapCook: it prices Australian supermarkets, and it works from your own recipe collection rather than a dinner library. It doesn't plan the week to a budget for you; the store totals show what the week you planned will cost, and you adjust from there. There are no ads, and a Family Group shares the plan and list with your household.

The trade-offs, plainly. It is phone-only, on Android and iOS, with no web or desktop app, and prices are estimates that can lag the shelf, which is why each store's total shows what is missing.

WiseList: Australian prices with budget meal plans

WiseList is the closest Australian match to TapCook's budget-first idea: free Coles, Woolworths and ALDI price comparison, and meal plans built around your kitchen, this week's specials or a set budget, with one plan free and unlimited plans in WiseList+ (A$7.99 a month or A$49.99 a year). Our WiseList alternatives page covers what is free, what is paid and how it compares.

Pinch: recipe prices with a year of history

Pinch says on its About page that you can paste a recipe or build a meal plan and see it priced at Coles, Woolworths, ALDI and Harris Farm; its Australian App Store listing also names Umall and adds up to 52 weeks of price history. It says it is free, and we haven't audited its claims. The best recipe apps in Australia round-up covers it in more detail.
